Change Sim Name or Gender Console Command

A script mod to add two commands to your game, one to change a sim's name and the other to change genders. This can also be accomplished by the cas.fulleditmode cheat; however, this accomplishes the change more easily and automatically. The commands default to the selected sim, or you can name another sim to apply the changes to a townie or sim in another household.

Please be sure to read the Warnings and Notes section below completely!

Usage

Simply, open your command console with the Ctrl-Shift-C key and type in one of the available commands. Testing cheat mode is not required:

Change current sim's name to Bob Randolph:
rename bob randolph

Change current sim's gender:
setgender male
or
setgender female
(Helpful shortcut: you really only need to give the first letter of the gender, "setgender m" will also work)

Change another sim's gender and give them a new name:
setgender female john doe
rename john doe jane doe

WARNINGS and Notes

• Changing a sim's name or gender is somewhat experimental. This may cause bugs or major problems down the line. I have tested this quite a bit and everything SEEMS to work. I cannot be held responsible for possible loss of sims or corrupted save games. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
• Do a SAVE AS on your game TWICE before using this mod. Once to save a backup of your current world, and again to ensure that backupdoesn't get written over by the "autosave" feature.
• After changing a name, it will not appear to be updated everywhere on the screen until the game is reloaded or you switch households. Simply going to Manage Worlds and reselecting the same househould should suffice. However, this is an entirely cosmetic issue and is not required.
• Changing sim's last names will not change the name of their household.
• Changing a sim's gender will generate a new set of outfits as the old outfits are incompatible with the new gender. However, other physical aspects of the sim will not change (e.g. fatness/fitness, hair-style, tattoos).
• If a sim has multiple outfits, only the first outfit of each set will be changed automatically. This is not so bad as if you are changing a played sim's gender you will want to redo their outfits anyway.
• You can use this to change a sim's hairstyle to one that is not normally available to their gender. Change the gender, go to a mirror and change their hairstyle, then change the gender back. Note that you will lose your outfits in the process!
• Changing a sim's gender will also swap their gender preferences! If you change only one sim of a romantically involved pair, some romance options will automatically cancel until they build up a new gender preference.
• Again -- USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Installation

Simply copy, do not unzip, the zip file into your game Mods folder. This is a script mod, so scripting must be enabled.

As these are new commands, it should not interefere with any other script mods.
